ImgBurn is a tool we use for creating disk images of optical discs. It is used primarily in conjunction with the Nimbie autoloader device on Windows.
- With the Nimbie connected and turned on, click on the ImgBurn desktop shortcut and wait for the optical drives to load.
- Load your disc(s) into the Nimbie.
- Click the Create image file from disc option.
- From the Source dropdown, choose the TEAC... drive.
- On the bottom right of the window, check the "Batch Mode" box.
- To start imaging, click the icon on the bottom left of a disc with an arrow pointing to a disc on top of a piece of paper.
- The Nimbie will load the first disc and ImgBurn will then ask for the destination. Choose or create a folder under D:\BCShared01\Processing for your accession, such 2025_008acc. This folder will be remembered and used for the rest of the discs in the stack.
- ImgBurn will now attempt to create a disc image.
- Sometimes ImgBurn will not be able to image a disc, in those cases, try a different imaging or transfer method
- Known example: DVD burned using DVD player
- Sometimes ImgBurn will not be able to create an ISO image and result in .bin/.cue files. In these cases it is most likely easier to try a different imaging or transfer method than convert the .bin/.cue files later.
- Known example: Audio CDs
- Sometimes ImgBurn will not be able to image a disc, in those cases, try a different imaging or transfer method
- When ImgBurn is finished creating disk images, you will need to rename the files with the identifier of the corresponding disc (2025_008_001, etc.). ImgBurn names disk images based on the disk volume name (basically the title given to the disc at the time of creation). Look at the last modified date of the image files and rename the earliest to the first disc identifier (2025_008_001 for instance) and so on.
- Once all the disk images are named properly and you do not have other disk images to create, you can proceed to the Disk Image Extraction section.
