First impressions of main page: VC logo top left - Takes me to a menu +Start new song - looks clickable, takes me to a place where i can start singing a new tune search icon - not entirely sure what this does, guess would be search by song title For each song tune: Rename: Probably rename a tune Save As: Doesn't make sense, what am i saving, isn't it already saved? Export: Doesn't make sense, maybe it mails the song to someone Delete: Deletes tune Also timestamp: >> Cosmetic: Question: Do you need exact time, or would a shorter approximate time work better: "2 days ago", "3 hours ago", etc. START NEW SONG page: Record Button: Thinks: Would start recording from current position of line. Play Button: Plays tune that I sang from the line forwards To Start Button: Moves the line to the front >> Minor: When there is no recorded song, the play button doesn't make sense. It could be 'greyed out' or deactivated to give the user a sense of the possibility of listening to their tune after recording, or removed. Impression of tracks (red, green, yellow, blue): -Thinks: I can record one tune in one color, then switch to another track color and record a new tune on top of the first one. >> Major: - Realizes: this may be hard for beginners to realize, so you could instead deactivate tracks 2-4 until track 1 is recorded, then with some UI animation show track 2 (green) becoming available. >> Minor: -- clicking the next recordable track could move the line to the start, ready for recording. Back button: >> GOOD: -- Error prevention: buttons describe action, instead of just 'yes' and 'no' Can serve two purposes: 1) Undo last track addition 2) Go back to the main page of tune listings Track buttons: - Single tap vs double tap: >> MINOR: -- Double tap does same thing, potential for double-tap to do something more useful, like going to start/end of the track's tune, or to the start of the entire tune. (may be more iphone) Three top left buttons: Physically close together on screen, for users with larger fingers may be difficult to accurately click individual buttons. Clicking a recorded note item: Initial Thought: Red box must be dragged, resized to fit around the notes i wanted to edit. System status: im editing a particular note i selected in last mode my User model: The initial thought, but then clicking arrows, swiping, something will happen. >> CATASTOPHIC: Better mark which note is being edited (circle, color, etc), then just two arrows tomove up.down, and maybe two arrows for left/right. Zoom view of tune to show the note in the center, a couple notes on either side for context, with the focused note more visible. - Red box with many arrows - Too many places to tap initially, unclear w I finished, want to return: - Trash can >> GOOD: Trash the note (note is GONE), which is what i expected > Can't be undone - Back icon >> GOOD: undo this change - works as expected - record with checkmark >> GOOD: save this change >> Minor: Swipe on screen towards the main phone buttons results in accidentally pressing back/search/etc buttons on (android) phone. Notes are too small to tap. On main screen, the list of notes: >> MAJOR: - The background of the four buttons is a button that is not visible to the user but brings the user to the tune editing pane. >> MINOR: -> Since save as doesnt seem useful, replace it with 'edit' that does background >> MINOR: - save as == copy, oO >> MAJOR: - Search button cancels itself, which is a good feature with a bad icon -> change search to a search icon with an X to indicate cancel.
