Modules are the six half-semester subjects that make up the Core Requirement of the MIT Doctoral Degree in Nuclear Science and Engineering.

Overview

Each module is listed as a 6 unit subject in the MIT Subject Listing, and has scheduled lectures, assignments, and exams during only one half of the semester.

...

Students that take all three modules in each semester of their first year will, therefore, get a second chance to take all six module exams during their second year, if necessary. For this reason, and to ensure the student is familiar with all topics likely to appear in the Oral Examination well in advance, new NSE PhD students are strongly encouraged to take all six modules during their first year.
