I am the "general" Peter Brenton is our amazing general administrative contact for the department, and the person who takes care of the space. The following info comes from his email on Sept. 3rd, 2014, so the "I" in the email refer to him.

Whom to contact

  • Contact me (email, call 617-253-3185 or stop by 24-111) when you aren't sure who to ask, and when its clearly not an academic question (that's Clare and Heather's area).  At the very bottom of this email are instructions on the heat and air conditioning operation, for those who have yet to master thermodynamics.

...

  • I occasionally send out emails that are forwarded from recruiters, event hosts, etc.  If so I always leave the “FW:” in the subject so you know you can safely ignore it without hurting my feelings.  I try to be selective.  Feedback on what spam tastes like is welcome.
  • The PSFC provides office space for Fusion students, see your supervisor for an office assignment in those areas.  Professor Cappellaro has offices in building 26 and will assign offices to her own students there.
  • All other students have probably already contacted Aditi Verma or Ruaridh MacDonald for an office assignment by now.  If not, though, they are the ones to ask.
  • I’ll be entering everyone into the NW12 front door magic list. Email me late

...

  • the first week of school if you have trouble accessing that door.

Basic rules about office space

Existing students, please be nice to incoming students and "share" the furnishings and space fairly with them.

Every NSE Graduate office should have the following;
        an operating phone (one per office, not one per person)
        one desk for each student
        one ergonomically good chair for each student (that is, a decent adjustable height office chair with arms)
        a working ethernet jack for each student.
        WiFi coverage.
        Trash cans, and recycling bins appropriate to the space.
