As with any of the solutions proposed on our website, there will be significant costs for implementation. One way that placement of an MPA can reduce some of these costs is by extending an existing land park to include a coastal reserve. Coastal zones will target many overfished populations. In addition, the existing management system for the land park can be extended to regulate the MPA so that an entirely new system will not have to be created and paid forfunded.
