All project documentation should be added to/stored in e-Builder. When internal or external participants are uploading files into the system, they are required to specify a folder in the document structure, which ensures that all files within the system are stored in a central location.
The advantages of using the e-Builder documents module are:
- all project members are able to access the most up-to-date files from any location, at any time.
- The Documents module makes it easy to share documents via email, fax or through notification.
- Collaboration is enhanced as team members are able to work on files collectively, check files in and out of the system, and redline documents while maintaining document version control.

There are some differences between the old process of storing files on the W drive and storing files in e-Builder. The "W" drive served two purposes, it was a storage repository for all project documents as well as an archive of all project documentation for multiple years. e-Builder is a construction management application for which the key architectural element is the project. When working in e-Builder you are part of a project team, or multiple project teams, and your access to information is for one or more designated projects. The application is designed to restrict access e-Buuilderto information when you are not part of a project or are part of the project but not in a specific role.
Project documents and other information is accessible to users who are assigned to a project. From time to time it may be necessary to review information about projects to which you are not assigned. To do so you should use View Only rights.
