FutureBOSTON is an "IdeaJAMTM" that uses the power of the Web to build a city -- an experiment to see how far collaborators can go in a six-week period to make Boston a better, cooler place; framing concepts, generating models, arguing impacts, and posting their ideas online. Although FutureBOSTON is focused (to start with) in three major challenge areas: Health and Healthcare, City Design and Environmental Sustainability - you can take FutureBOSTON anywhere you want it to go; just play safely.

- 2. City Design - The creation of new land use proposals in a city district that would allow an unsupervised child to play in safety, shaped by the advent of mixed-use zoning, densification to the standard of Vancouver, major commercial retail, green construction methods, multi-mode transportation and advanced sensor technologies
- 3. Environmental Sustainability - The search for the net-zero emission city of the future, incorporating co-generation, conservation, alternative fuels and new energy technology to create energy independence
