1. Explore Gowalla and Foursquare for possible beta tour for orientation.

  • Morphed into building a "Trek" on SCVNGR for Orientation.  Locations are created in Gowalla and Foursquare.  Now working to build a "trip" in Gowalla.  Exploring how others can see your "trips" without being your Gowalla friends.

2. QR codes -- picking Bill's brain -- reading and starting to experiment with new iTouch.

3. Libraries Marketing group - on the "monitors" group.  Need to figure out some Barker specific content/material and workflow.  Darcy and I continue to work with how best to use the screen in the Barker lobby.

4. Attended 3. CLIR Faculty Workshop - Sept 23/24 -- will attend and now must figure out how to share knowledge .

6. win.mit.edu -- meeting with Steve, Oliver (IS&T) and Pam at the end of the month.  Before then - think about what we need to know to have a useful discussion.  win.mit.edu vs. public machines vs. athena machines.  Get info from Pam regarding our current win.mit.edu machines. 

7. Continue to meet with Maria to look at Hayden space and how it is used.  This should be one of the first places we do observations.  Our discussions will continue after UX space group tours later in Oct. 

8. Reviewing survey data to identify common themes regarding space needs. 5. Working with Darcy to figure out best use of screen in the Barker Lobby - we are experimenting...

Other things I'm working on - not particularly UX in nature - but where my time is going.

  1. Orientation Week activities - Academic Expo, Grad Student Reception, marketing surrounding these things... Librarian Advisor program -- not much overhead - just some emails (but still time)
  2. Academic Advising - will be meeting my four new students and advising them on their course schedules.
  3. Ask-Central
  4. Office space - sigh.  Day by day.

  • Hayden Reading Room project -
    • getting the Reading Room put back together. 
    • Working with Maria to decide best layout of furniture. 
    • Had been working to accommodate the Humanities journals - but that is on hold for now. 
    • Working with architect to identify any "punch list" items - or things to comment on.
