| Short: Remote control for robots on Andriod. Message-passing environment visualization on mobile.
Long: Many researchers use LCM to do messaging and control. An Andriod LCM client will have real-time data view (graphing), allow parameter tuning, view system state, and possibly even provide a dead-man switch LCM is a message-passing protocol that is used in robotics as a medium between the different processes in a robot and for communicating with control station. ROS is another robotic platform based on message passing. We want to figure out a way to make the message passing information "browse-able" and intuitive for researchers, also enabling them to interfere and control the robot.
Notable advantages: - Project will be used after class is completed (there is a substantial interest in using this interface) - Challenging UI design (lots of data, small screen) - Immediately accessible users (interview, testing) Notable disadvantages: - Users are like you (learn less about how to design for someone else)
