Prototype Iteration

Changes between prototypes

These are the changes we made after the analyzing the feedback we got on the first prototype:

- We got rid of the “All” tab, which selects all displays the entire stream, because it did not enhance the user experience.

- We decided that the calendar would only be modifiable by the teachers, who would use it post exams, events, etc. Parents would only be able to view it.

1. The _All _selection was unclear. We replaced the word "All" with "Class".

2. We removed the scheduler and all scheduling should be done through the calendar. Parents can only view the calendar, and cannot add new events. To coordinate on availability, teachers and parents should just communicate through messages.

3. So users would understand which context they are in (which student's parent they are communicating with), we introduced - To make it more clear to the user what student's profile he is currently on, we decided we would introduce a small bio of the student at the top of the page, which would include . This bio included the student's name, his parent's namepicture, and his average grade in the class.

- In order to make it more clear to the teacher that the left menu contains the student's names, we added icons with the student's pictures beside each name.

- Calendar will only be modifiable by teachers, who will just use it to post exams, events, etc. Parents will only be able to view it.

4. To make the purpose of the side vertical navigation clearer, we added profile photos to the left of each student's name.

5. We decided that dividing - We no longer divided the main container into an "editing view box " and a "view box", as it became confusing especially in the calendar view, where users are used to seeing a pop-up when they edit an entry.

- We changed the button named "All", which made reference to all the class, to "Class".

Planned Iteration

These are the the changes we are going to make next:

- Separate the class and make it bigger

an edit box confused users. Instead, we scrapped the edit box for the calendar and grades tab and used pop ups to add content to these tabs.

Planned Changes

1. The interface needs more feedback about the context closer to the focus points on screen. For instance, at the top of the view box in the Messages tab, we plan to include a line of text stating "_Viewing messages from Brenda, Tammy, and ..." _for each context.

2. The class selector still isn't perfectly clear. We plan to put a small amount of spacing between it and the students and to increase it's height for more learnability. We think this will continue to reduce the amount of lapses users experience.- SOMETHING ABOUT GRADES
