The door leading to the shared SDM/LGO student area is meant to remain closed, and is coded to only allow SDM/LGO students in after hours. You only need to waive your ID in front of the sensor for the door lock to release. Should you forget your ID, there is a call button outside the door to reach the front desk during office hours (they can buzz you in). DO NOT BLOCK THIS DOOR OPEN FOR ANY REASON. Though thefts are rare, there are some crafty thieves who patrol MIT, and laptops and other valuables have been known to disappear.

Mail:

On campus students set up a set of file folders at the beginning of each semester in the mail folders.

Noise:

Remember that the student cubicle area is basically a large open area. People are on different schedules and might be trying to work while you are letting off steam. Keep it down.

...

There are 9 break-out rooms in the SDM/LGO student area for student use (and 4 more across the hall). Each is equipped with a large wall-mounted monitor for student use. A room schedule is posted outside each door at the beginning of the week. Simply write in the time and your name if a group you are in requires use of the room. Be courteous- do not block the rooms off for long periods of time unless you know that your group really needs it- there are many students using the space, and the rooms are always in demand. Individuals should not take up a room for private study (that's what the student carrels are for), and may be asked to leave if a group needs the room. Please clean up after yourself so the next group to use the room doesn't have to throw away your garbage, especially if you eat in the room.

Inventory of SDM office student equipment:

...

Coffee machine, microwave, refrigerator, water cooler. Coffee and tea are provided. Please clean up your mess as otherwise the on-campus students have to do it.
