Objective

  • To perform a synchronized dance with other robot(s)

Gameboard and Setup

  • Square flat dance floor approximately 72" x 72" 60" x 80".
    • Black grid lines will be placed 6" apart - your choice whether to use them or not.
    • A red border will bound the dance floor.

Rules

  • Teams have their own discretion in who their robot dances with
    • No limit to number of robots performing at once
  • Dance routines must be a minimum of 90 seconds and no longer than 5 minutes
  • The dance will begin with the starting signal and must be performed autonomously
  • Minimum required dance moves:
    • Clockwise full turn (360 degrees)
    • Counter-clockwise full turn (360 degrees)
    • Quarter turn (90 degrees) x 2
    • Claw or arm motion
    • Dance moves can occur individually or coupled

Scoring

  • The scoring will be determined by five judges (from 1 - 15)
  • All robots dancing together will receive the sum of the judges' scores
  • Scoring will be based on the following criteria:
    • Difficulty
    • Degree of synchronization between robots
    • Creativity/Artistry
    • Adherence to Requirements
    • In-sync-ness with music
  • Penalties
    • Activity that is not autonomous: - 2 point penalty from judge's score
    • Robot leaving the dance floor: - 1 point penalty (cumulative)
    • Dance routine not meeting time requirements: -2 point penalty
    • Dance routine not fulfilling dance move requirements: -1 penalty for each missing move
