This must be done each time the kernel is upgraded, or whenever you need to change some aspect of the configuration.
As root, start the configuration script:

Accept the defaults by pressing Enter in response to each question, until the script completes. Alternatively, if you want to change any of the values, you may do so, although ordinarily this is not needed or even appropriate.
