Skating and RinksWoods hole is within driving distance of two year-round ice rinks, one of which is right in Falmouth. During the winter some of the ponds freeze. During the particularly cold Winter of 02–03, students and locals played ice hockey on Oyster and Ice House ponds weekly (interested JP students should subscribe to pondhockey@mit.edu). Tennis - WHOI court is located behind Clark. It can be reserved via a sign-up sheet at the court.

BasketballThere is a basketball court (built in 2002) on the NE side of McKee Field. WHOI Sports GroupsSoccerWHOI folks play every Mon/Wed/Fri at noon on the field behind Clark. SoftballOrganized teams from the various departments, plus Facilities, GFD, MBL, Fisheries, the Post Office, and Townies, play weekly between late May and the end of August. This is a laid-back, slow-pitch, no balls and-strikes league; no experience necessary. Games are played on McKee Field behind Clark and at Bell Tower Field in the village. For the less serious, bike paths, parks, and quiet, scenic roads make for excellent jogging. Those interested in training for any of the races below should consider attending Falmouth Track Club workouts, where you’ll meet many like-minded runners from WHOI and the rest of the community.
