Introduction

When signing up for third-party services, users should use a moira group email owned by CRE IT. For example, if signing up for third-party web hosting, it is better to use a moira group email address like cre-itaccounts@mit.edu as the account owner, rather than an individual's email address (even if the individual is the only one on that list),. This is so that when this individual leaves MIT, the new employee can just be added to the moira group instead of logging into hundreds of accounts (which may not even be possible) and updating the email contact information. In addition, when the user's billing information expires, there is no way for the current employee to know this unless it was registered using a group email address and that the employee is on that list.
