There are a number of nightly jobs that need to happen for dances to run smoothly. Currently, we have a How to be Jobs Coordinator each month who signs up people to do jobs for a month. Active club members are encouraged to take one job a month. Officers may sometimes do these jobs, but they are discouraged from doing too many of them, so as to let other people get involved. It is assumed that club officers will fill last minute vacancies. Some officers (such as class coordinator's coordinators and assistants) already have tasks to do during the dance, and are exempt from doing club jobs during those times.

Jobs include

  • How to do Rounds Setup (1 person, before early rounds)
  • How to do Squares Setup (1 person, before squares)
    How to do
  • Gate (2 people, from before squares to the 3rd tip)
  • How to do Announcements (1 person, middle tip)
  • Books (1 person, after gate closes)
  • How to do Breakdown (2 people, after squares)

Many jobs require that people have access to the club office, which is in W20-423. We have space in the back right corner as seen when you enter the room. The combination is 69967. . Officers can find the combo on the Office Access Page – ask an officer (or somebody who does setup/breakdown a lot) if you don't know the combo. People with MIT IDs can also be given access (with a few days notice) – ask an officer if that'd be useful. (Note that MIT alums are eligible for a free ID, though it requires going to the card office in person during business hours, which can be annoying.)
