The HSC needs to have at least three officers in charge to the logistic of the club and maintaining a certain level of continuity for the club.

Role of the President

In charge of general administration, Fund Raising, and recruitment. The role of the president is to attract potential members both at the undergraduate level and the graduate level.

Club Manager

The club manager will maintain club resources up to date and find how we can aid in improving the Hobby Shop.

Setup Five Projects During the term 2 hours where club members show up to take care of a certain task.

Draft Constitution

Hobby Shop Club Constitution
Article I: Purpose
The purpose of the Hobby Shop Club is to further the MIT philosophy of Mens et Manus by having its members engage in interesting projects relevant to their interests. The Hobby Shop Club is to keep a strong centralized organization to better serve its members.
Article II: Membership
1. Any member of the MIT community is eligible to become a member of this organization. One is considered a member of this organization in any given academic term if he or she has attended at least one club activity and two meetings in the preceding or current term.
2. The organization’s membership will at all times consist of at least 5 MIT students and be more than half MIT students.
3. This organization will not discriminate based on any characteristic listed in MIT's Nondiscrimination Statement.
4. If this organization charges any monetary dues, there will be exceptions made for students that cannot afford these dues.
Article III: Officers
1. This organization will have seven officers:
a. President
1. The president shall be the official representative of the group to any other organization and to MIT.
2. The president will preside over all meetings.
3. The president is responsible for determining when meetings are and publicizing this to the group.
4. The president is expected to organize and lead the Review Board in disbursing funds
b. Vice President
1. The vice president shall assume the President's duties in his or her absence
c. Treasurer
1. The treasurer shall be responsible for the finances of the group.
2. The treasurer is required to sign all checks/vouchers of the group.
e. Secretary
1. The secretary shall take notes during meetings
2. The secretary shall take attendance at Next Make events and meetings
f. Public Relations
1. The Public Relations officer shall be in charge of publicizing Next Make events to the MIT community and prospective members
g. Webmaster
1. The webmaster shall ensure that the group website remains an up-to-date conduit of information for any parties interested in Next Make
2. The webmaster shall ensure that the group has digital storage available to store media
h. Funding officer
1. The funding officer shall be in charge of researching new avenues for funding, and securing funding for the group.
2. With the exception of the President and Vice President, officer roles of this organization can be filled by several persons and MIT students.

3. Elections:
a. Elections of officers shall occur at the beginning of every MIT Spring and Fall term.
b. Any member of this organization is eligible to run for office.
c. Quorum for elections is two-thirds of the group.
d. Any member is elected if he or she wins a majority of the voting members.
e. If more than two people are running and no one wins a majority, then the person with the fewest votes is dropped from the ballot and votes are recast.
f. The term of office runs from the beginning of the academic semester until the end of the academic semester.
4. Removal: Officers may be removed by a two-thirds vote of the members.
Article IV: Meetings
1. Meetings shall be held at least every two weeks.
2. Meetings shall be presided over by the president, unless he or she is absent, and in that case the vice president shall preside.
3. All decisions shall be made by a majority vote of all members present.
4. Quorum for a meeting shall be one quarter of the members of the organization.
Article V: Amendments
1. Amendments shall be presented by any member of the organization.
2. Amendments shall be passed by a two-thirds vote of the members present.
3. Quorum for amending this constitution shall be one third of all members of the organization.
Article VI: ASA Governance Clause
The Hobby Shop Club agrees to abide by the rules and regulations of the Association of Student Activities, and its executive board. This constitution, amendments to it, and the by-laws of this organization shall be subject to review by the ASA Executive Board to insure that they are in accordance with the aforementioned rules and regulations.
