How to market a class/event and add it to the calendar of events:

If your event is part of an IAP series:

If your event is part of a big series, like IAP, IAPril, JulyAP, or IAP in October, then you don't have to worry about marketing it or adding your event to the calendar.  Submit your class or event info to the series coordinator as instructed, and Mark Szarko and the Marketing Team will take care of marketing and adding it to the calendar.

If your event is NOT part of an IAP series:

...

Does your event require registration?

...

  1. Post the event on LibCal
  2. For events that require registration:
    1. Event organizer will post the event on LibCal.
    2. The organizer should ask their unit's designated blogger to post the event on the MIT calendar and link to the LibCal registration page.
    3. Designated departmental blogger posts the event on the news blog.
  3. For events that don't require registration:
    1. Event organizer requests that someone on Marketing (Mark? Ann?) post the event on the MIT calendar.
    2. Designated departmental blogger posts the event on the news blog.

About the calendar of events

The library's calendar of events (http://libraries.mit.edu/events) is automatically fed by listings in the MIT calendar.  If a class or event is added to the MIT calendar using the "MIT Libraries" group account, it will automatically show up on the library's calendar of events. There's no way to add it to the library's calendar without adding it to the MIT calendar.  Marketing Team organizes and adds content, and the User Interface Group can tweak the design of the page.
