service

This resource is operated and maintained by the Information Services and Technology at MIT. This is a pilot project.

How's it Work?

The wiki uses Confluence, a popular enterprise wiki application developed by Atlassian Software
Confluence is segmented into wiki 'Spaces'. A space can be either world readable or restricted, with varying permission levels, to members of a given group (or set of groups). Each space has an administrative group associated with it.
Members of the admin group can control some elements of the look and feel of the space and can manage the users and user group(s) associated with that space.
For instance:
You are currently in the 'Welcome to the MIT IS&T Wiki Service', or 'TOP' space. This space is world-readable, and permissions are set such that anyone in the group confluence-users (anyone with an account) can add comments.

You must also have cookies and javascript enabled in your browser.

To have a space created for your group:

A wiki space needs to be requested and set up centrally. You can request a wiki site using the Class Wiki Request Form

...

  • Name and purpose of the space.
  • Name and MIT username of a person or persons who will administer the space.
An existing Moira group can be used for this purpose.
  • MIT usernames of persons who should have access to the space. For non-MIT users, we'll need email addresses.
An existing Moira group can be used for this purpose.
