OneDrive Online:

To use OneDrive in a web browser, follow these steps:

  1. Open a web browser such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge.
  2. Type the URL of OneDrive website into the address bar. The URL is https://www.onedrive.com/.
  3. Click 'Sign in' in the top left, enter your MIT email, and then sign in with Touchstone. 
  4. Once you are logged in, you will see the OneDrive homepage. From here, you can upload and manage files, create folders, and share files with others.
  5. To upload a file, click on the "Upload" button and select the file(s) you want to upload from your computer. You can also drag and drop files from your computer to the OneDrive interface.
  6. To create a new folder, click on the "New" button and select "Folder." Give the folder a name and click "Create."
  7. To share a file with others, select the file and click on the "Share" button. You can then enter the email addresses of the people you want to share the file with and choose the level of access they will have.
  8. To collaborate with others on a document or file, select the file and click on the "Edit" button. You can then make changes to the file in real-time, and other users can see the changes as you make them.
  9. To search for content within OneDrive, use the search bar at the top of the page. You can search for specific keywords or phrases, and OneDrive will return relevant results from across your files.
  10. To customize OneDrive to your preferences, click on the "Settings" button and select "Options." From here, you can modify various settings such as notifications, language, and upload preferences.
OneDrive App (MacOS):

To use the OneDrive app on MacOS, follow these steps:

  1. Download and install the OneDrive app from the Mac App Store or from the OneDrive website.
  2. Once the app is installed, open it from your Applications folder.
  3. Log in using your MIT username and  password. 
  4. Once you are logged in, you will see the OneDrive folder on your computer. This folder is linked to your OneDrive account and any changes made to files within the folder will be automatically synced to your OneDrive account.
  5. To upload a file, simply drag and drop it into the OneDrive folder on your computer.
  6. To create a new folder, right-click within the OneDrive folder and select "New Folder." Give the folder a name and press Enter.
  7. To share a file with others, right-click on the file and select "Share." You can then enter the email addresses of the people you want to share the file with and choose the level of access they will have.
  8. To collaborate with others on a document or file, open the file in the appropriate application (such as Microsoft Word or Excel) and save it within the OneDrive folder on your computer. Other users with access to the file can then make changes in real-time and you will see the changes as they are made.
  9. To access your files from other devices, simply log in to your OneDrive account on those devices and your files will be synced automatically.
  10. To customize OneDrive to your preferences, click on the OneDrive icon in your menu bar and select "Preferences." From here, you can modify various settings such as file syncing preferences, notifications, and upload/download speeds. The file syncing preferences are especially important, as they will allow you to determine what is backed up locally, what is duplicated in the cloud, and what is available in the cloud-only. OneDrive App (Windows):

To use the OneDrive app on Windows, follow these steps:

  1. Download and install the OneDrive app from the Microsoft Store or from the OneDrive website.
  2. Once the app is installed, open it from your Start menu.
  3. Log in using your Microsoft credentials, such as your email address and password.
  4. Once you are logged in, you will see the OneDrive folder on your computer. This folder is linked to your OneDrive account and any changes made to files within the folder will be automatically synced to your OneDrive account.
  5. To upload a file, simply drag and drop it into the OneDrive folder on your computer.
  6. To create a new folder, right-click within the OneDrive folder and select "New Folder." Give the folder a name and press Enter.
  7. To share a file with others, right-click on the file and select "Share a OneDrive link." You can then enter the email addresses of the people you want to share the file with and choose the level of access they will have.
  8. To collaborate with others on a document or file, open the file in the appropriate application (such as Microsoft Word or Excel) and save it within the OneDrive folder on your computer. Other users with access to the file can then make changes in real-time and you will see the changes as they are made.
