This page explains the process for final exams, presentations and exemptions

Final Exams

If a faculty member is planning on having a final exam, this must be requested. See this page for full details: https://registrar.mit.edu/classes-grades-evaluations/examinations/examination-policies/request-final-exam

Courses with final exams have a different final grade deadline from courses with out a final exam

MIT Policies on Final Exams

Presentations

If a course is going to have final presentations, they should happen during the regular class time though faculty can request to have them after classes end.

Exemptions

11.303 has an exemption to hold a final presentation after the end of classes.

  • The exemption lasts 5 years and was last renewed in Feb. 2022
  • It will need to be renewed in 2027 if this course still has the post-class presentation

A copy of the 11.303 Studio Final Presentation Exemption email can be found in the MSRED/FINAL EXAMS Drop Box:https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/e37lm3xuff5ugfuxerymp/h?rlkey=u0gr0ydculwpxmozftex1cyug&dl=0.

You may want to include past correspondance when requesting an exemption update.

Tami Kaplan <tkaplan@mit.edu> is the point person on this.
