Laboratory Safety Training
- Chemical Hygiene Plan:
- Follow this link CEE Chemical Hygiene Plan to read the plan.
- Then click on this link Signature and complete the form certifying that you've read the plan.
- EHS Training:
- Go to the EHS training website https://ehs.mit.edu/site/training
- Follow the instructions to set up your training profile.
In Section 2 select the following activities (they should be highlighted)

- #1 Use potentially hazardous chemicals in a laboratory (this includes even common chemicals such as oil , solvents, paints, alcohol, acetone, etc)
- # 9 Use biological materials requiring BL1 or BL2 containment, or use recombinant DNA/RNA requiring BL1 or BL2 containment.

- Once your profile is complete you can click on the My Training tab and you should have a list of required training's.
- For Signature: Read Dept. Chem. Hygiene Plan see section 1. Lab Specific Chemical Hygiene Training will be addressed in Section 3. For all other trainings follow the instructions below.
- Under the How can I complete this training? column click on View
- For Web-based training (General Chemical Hygiene & Managing Hazardous Waste): click on the link to start the training.
- For classroom based courses (General Biosafety): click on the link and it will show you the schedule. Click Book Session to select the class you want to attend.
- If you click the arrow, on the left, it will expand and show you more information including the time of the class.
- Lab Specific Chemical Hygiene Training
- This training needs to be renewed every year. There is a group training offered at the beginning of the school year in September.
- If you arrive after September you will need to schedule your training with the EHS Rep.
