Overview

Requirements

  1. Deployment
    1. Release chutes into the freestream without breaking other parts of the rocket
    2. Single separation, dual-deploy for 1st stage
    3. TBD for 2nd stage
  2. Descent rates
    1. Drogue: 150 ft/s +/- 25 ft/s (TBR)
    2. Main: 25 ft/s +/- 5 ft/s  (TBR)
  3. Separation Loads

I think the main descent rate can be loosened a bit. Hermes 1 hit the ground at slightly over 30 fps and the structure was fine. Might be worth asking around TRF or something about 30-40 fps landings.

From the other end of things, I think the drogue descent rate should be defined by altitude (since 150 fps at 100km is very different than 100 fps at main deploy). I'd also advocate for slower drogue descent rates in general, since fast drogue descent rate was a possible cause of the Virgo crash.
