Phase 1: Digitization and Planning

  1. Digitized and provided cataloguers with access to notebook images
  2. Digitized Museum images
  3. Selected films for digitization
  4. Completed metadata crosswalk between the collections
  5. Defined the Edgerton database
  6. Defined the architecture for a federated search
  7. Began to understand what assets are available and which we have to add
  8. Created an "In-Progress" site for Foundation members
  9. Formalize user requirements for June 2009 web site
  10. Begin to define copyright and usage statements
  11. To do: set up server hosting arrangements with IS&T

Phase 2: Data Presentation, roll-out June 2009

Users will be able to:

  1. Learn about Doc (website articles, images)
  2. View and read notebook pages (present images in larger format)
  3. Search across collections
  4. Login for users (simple identification)
  5. Transcribe notebook pages (independent wiki) - with a link to relevant page image
  6. The same website will be available to visitors of the MIT Museum via public kiosks (July-Aug 2009)

Phase 3: Enhanced User Interaction, future

  1. Capture user stories and images
  2. Annotate/tag assets (folksonomies)
