Testing the Website

You will need to have Silverlight 4 installed to use this website. If it is not installed or you have an outdated version, a button should appear prompting you to install it. If you do not have your own Windows or Mac machine, the Macs in the New Media Center in building 26 have Silverlight preinstalled.

The website is located at http://gkovacs.xvm.mit.edu/.gr4

Notes

The website is several megabytes and will take several seconds to load.

The website has fixed size, and should be viewed on a screen of size 1280x800 or larger.

No login system is implemented at the moment, hence you will automatically be logged in as a sample user when you visit the website. This also means that none of your data (the list of known vocab, contributed sentences, or viewed sentences) will persist across sessions.

The only available language in this version is Mandarin Chinese written with Simplified characters.

If you wish to test the "Contribute Setences", you will need a Chinese IME to type characters. If you don't already have one set up and configured, please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_input_methods_for_computers for a list of ones available and installation instructions for various platforms.

  1. Really clean UI overall, and nice job adding content to make it easy to evaluate the full feature set of your interface.
On the left hand pane, the "make study focus" button is enabled and can be pressed even when a word is not displayed in sentences (hence making it the study focus is not possible) so that button should be disabled at the appropriate time.
    Nice job.
