TASKS AS FOUND AT BEGINNING OF IAP

Drag test

• • index steel disc (challenging since it doesn't fit in the indexer)
  • make 1/4-20 threads on aluminum tube into through holes for grub screws
  • snag grub screws
  • weld steel disc to steel plate
  • fit check entire stand
  • fit load application sandwich with clevis on instron
  • verify test load derivation and analysis
  • write test procedures
  • manage instrumentation and documentation of test
  • run test

Moment test

• • fix base jig holes (10" apart now, need to be 11" apart)
  • confirm fit on instron
  • work with pierce to coordinate 3 point bend fixture use
  • verify test load derivation and analysis
  • write test procedures
  • manage instrumentation and documentation of test
  • run test

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

• made 1/4-20 threads on aluminum tube into through holes for grub screws
• snagged grub screws
• preliminary fit check of moment test hardware
• fixed base jig holes with waterjet (thanks Todd!)
• found load application sandwich in the Deep
• reached out to Pierce for help with 3 pt bend fixture and clevis fitting
• reached out to Seth for welding help since Charlie is gone
• came up with steel disc indexing plan with Todd

RISKS/MITIGATIONS

• worried that 3 point bend fixture won't work with the whole setup (sort of worrying, this could really set us back)
  • will continue to chase down Pierce
  • bars might have to be elongated
  • worst case scenario we may be able to sandwich with a steel plate and compression bar
• worried that load application sandwich + clevis won't work with the whole setup
  • will continue to chase down Pierce and make necessary modifications
• a little rusty on the loads derivation and analysis
  • will set aside a few hours to go over this today
