Here's an example of the PHP reference I mentioned, for a favorite function. The top section is documentation, locked and official; comments are added at the bottom. Comments include examples, gotchas, and occasional bickering about the best way to do things. The comments are at least as valuable as the documentation. Wish I knew what they powered their site with; it's very easy to find my way around the documentation.
