To install Click To Speak, you first need to make sure you have Adobe AIR installed. If you've downloaded Click To Speak and your operating system doesn't know what program to use to open the installation files, you don't have it installed. You can download and install AIR here, at Adobe's website: http://get.adobe.com/air/
You can download the installer for the Click To Speak Player here: Download ClickToSpeak.air
You can download the installer for the Click To Speak Editor here: Download TextEditor3.air
For the sample game we've created, demonstrating the basic functionality of the player, click here: Download SampleGame.zip
To download all three together in a zip file, click here: Download CtsAllFiles.zip
If you only want to play Click To Speak games, you just have to install the Click To Speak Player, by double clicking ClickToSpeak.air. Follow the AIR installation process, and a shortcut will be installed to your desktop! For information on playing games in Click To Speak player, see Loading and Playing a Game.
It's fun to play Click to Speak games, but we recommend that you check out the Click to Speak Editor as well, for a simple and fun way to create your own Click To Speak games. To install the editor, run TextEditor3.air, and follow the same steps used to install the Click To Speak player.
If you are not planning on using the editor, disregard this section. You can still run the editor without performing this step, however you will have to run the Click To Speak player separately to test projects that you are working on.
Clicking "Run in Click to Speak Player" under the "Tools" menu in the editor does not initially work. Due to Adobe's security restrictions on AIR programs accessing content outside of their folder, we must copy the player's flash application into the editor's folder, in order to better be able to test games you are building on the fly. This is a simple process of copying and pasting a file into a different folder. Here is a step by step guide for Microsoft Windows. If you are using Mac OS X or another operating system, perform the corresponding steps in the directory structure of your OS.
