A 2D profiler measures the electromagnetic field in a 2D surface. The system consists of a mechanical part(four guide rails with driving accessories, bought from MJUNIT and Produstrial) and a vector network analyzer(VNA, with source antenna and probe antenna), both manipulated by a computer. The profiler moves the probe point by point to sample the amplitude and phase of the electromagnetic field excited by the source, and send data to computer for further processing.

The example code contains four scripts. Before running the script, please make sure the RSS2USB and GPIB drive programs are successfully installed in computer, or MATLAB will fail to communicate with peripheral devices. After that, run mainprogram.m to start the measurement. Once finished, run figures.m to see the 2D field plot of every frequency. For details, please see the Readme.txt in the code zip.

Typically, the 2D profiler can be used to measure the bulk states of 2D photonic crystals and surface states of 3D photonic crystals.
