To use the OneDrive app on Windows, follow these steps:

  1. Download and install the OneDrive app directly from Microsoft.
  2. Once the app is installed, open it from your Start menu.
  3. Log in using your MIT Credentials. You may need to enter your MIT email first, before being redirected to Touchstone.

  4. Once you are logged in, you will see the OneDrive folder on your computer. This folder is linked to your OneDrive account and any changes made to files within the folder will be automatically synced to your OneDrive account.

  5. Next, you may be prompted to backup some of your primary local folders to OneDrive. This is optional, and does not share any uploaded files with others by default.
  6. Finally, a OneDrive icon should now appear in your File Explorer shortcuts.
  7. To upload a file, simply drag and drop it into the OneDrive folder on your computer.
  8. To create a new folder, right-click within the OneDrive folder and select "New Folder." Give the folder a name and press Enter.
  9. To share a file with others, right-click on the file and select "Share a OneDrive link." You can then enter the email addresses of the people you want to share the file with and choose the level of access they will have.
  10. To collaborate with others on a document or file, open the file in the appropriate application (such as Microsoft Word or Excel) and save it within the OneDrive folder on your computer. Other users with access to the file can then make changes in real-time and you will see the changes as they are made.
  11. To access your files from other devices, simply log in to your OneDrive account on those devices and your files will be synced automatically.
  12. To customize OneDrive to your preferences, right-click on the OneDrive icon in your taskbar and select "Settings." From here, you can modify various settings such as file syncing preferences, notifications, and upload/download speeds. The file syncing preferences are especially important, as they will allow you to determine what is backed up locally, what is duplicated in the cloud, and what is available in the cloud-only.
