Run simulations of the existing Arecibo ISR
Choose the Arecibo ISR in topside mode
Run for 24 hours during Jan. 1st at a 90 degree elevation
Determine how many seconds you can reduce the integration period to and still have less than 5% error at all times at altitudes of:
2000 km
1500 km
1000 km
Run simulations of the Arecibo moved to the polar region
Move the Arecibo radar to latitude 85, longitude 0 by switching to the virtual radar tool. You will need the following details about the Arecibo ISR:
Freq: 430.0E6 Hz
Diameter: 305 m
Typical peak power: 1.5E6 W
Topside mode single pulse length: 500.0E-6 seconds
Topside mode duty cycle: 0.025
Repeat the same simulations for altitudes of 2000, 1500, and 1000 by changing only integration time.
Now change the elevation at 10 degrees (its a virtual Arecibo radar, after all!). What is the integration time to have less than 5% error at all times at 1000 km altitude?
