I have no idea where this page is going to...hopefully somebody will find it (smile). I'm not very computer savy...

Anyways, if you still haven't gotten a bike, and want one...you can buy new ones at Halford (right at the corner of St. Andrew's St and Jesus Lane I think?, and close to Sainsbury). They have a relatively cheap deal going on...so it's 79.99 pounds for just the bike but you can pay an extra 20 pounds for lights, lock, and mudguards. So it's only 20 pounds or so more than a used bike, and you could probably sell it to next year's kids for a decent price. All right, hope that's useful.

Also would suggest checking out the bike shop at the turn around at the intersection of Newnham Road and Fen Causeway. Got a used bike for 50 GBP (no lights, helmet, or lock), and it has been running well. They have a twenty-eight day return policy as well. Central bikes is what it is called, I think...

I just bought a new bike at Mikes Bikes (28 Mill Road) - it's not that far out (just past Parker's Pieces). I got a new (men's) bike for 89.99 – it was 69.99 for the bike + 20.00 for lights, mudflaps, and lock. Not a bad deal - the bike is a little squeaky so far.. but it works (smile)

So this is kind of random, but it seemed relevant - Josh enlightened me today that the brakes are reversed on the bikes here. That is, the right hand brake stops the front wheel, and the left hand brake stops the back wheel, which is opposite American bikes. Maybe other people noticed that on their own, but I didn't ... I guess I'm lucky I haven't gone flying over my front wheel yet ...

Bike shops
The Cambridge streets are filled with bike riders and there are plenty of bike shops around to
meet the demand. Most will both sell supplies and do repairs. Because there are so many, you
might want to shop around to get the best deal on whatever you're looking for. Shops include
Ben Hayward's Bikes (on King's Parade), Howes Cycles (on Regent St), Action Bikes (on Hills
Rd), Chris's Bikes (by Girton College), and several others on Mill Road. There is one wellknown
shop in Market Square, but it is usually a rip-off.
