MAP Framework meeting 3/21/07
Craig (who is in Worchester) reports:
Has been using Struts2, and it has been okay.
haven't done as much as did with springmvc yet, but it looks capable.
Used POI with Spring MVC, and he sees good jasperReports support in Struts2, but it has not yet been tried.
Could not get Petclinic working with MyEclipse, but hadn't spent much time on it - probably needs to sit down with someone who has it working to find problems.

Petclinic Sample App
Tomcat & petclinic was working, broken last night.
Now works with building and running separately with Ant
Next step to get it working both ways
Source Labs distribution didn't come with Spring Sample apps (like petclinic) and is missing jar files to build samples.
How do we integrate petclinic into Source labs distribution?
Was put together to work with Maven.
Craig Counterman may give demo on Maven.
Where should the missing libraries sit?
Set up in a central location to be copied to new location when necessary? Separate out jars for deployment from jars needed for build.
Manager user was working, admin rights available.
Certificates working for SSL. Acegi will handle personal certificates.
In production - when we depoy behind the F5, does not pass certs, but libraries exist to deal with that...
To do: fix Eclipse build, get ant script to put jars in right place, Norm to get Acegi working
Could build to query Moira, later as Roles or person service. First need to query locally, for testing. Overall, need to be able to use a mix of local and centralized data.
After Acegi, what should we be doing?
Struts 2 ?
Dave: New Roles web service moving forward - will be checking in client-side code for framework repository, checking web-service into main repository.
When App is ready, need a pilot user to try it out, then need to roll out to community.
Update samples on a quarterly basis with new/updated functionality.
Need release and versioning strategy, users need to know what version they have.
