The study focuses on a critical assessment of the supply chains of Vale (Brazilian mining company) and its competitor Rio Tinto (an Australian/UK mining company) in meeting the iron ore demands of the booming Chinese steelmaking industry. Both companies adopted radically different supply chain methodologies.
