Zoom Phone allows you to simultaneously receive phone calls at your MIT phone number via your desk phone and the Zoom application. You can also choose to forward these calls to your another number with conditions (for example, to your cell phone during regular business hours).

Configuring Zoom Phone

To configure zoom phone, go to mit.zoom.us and sign in to your account.

In the Zoom settings page, select Phone from the left-hand menu.

Here you can configure business hours, voicemail greetings, and call flows.

Recommended Settings

It is recommended that you use the following settings for your Zoom Phone.

Business Hours: Enter your normal working hours +/- 30 to 60 minutes. This will allow your desk phone to ring in the event you arrive early, or if you stay late. If you stay late one day and someone needs to "call you right back", they will be directed to your voicemail if they are calling outside of these hours.

Call Handling: It is recommended to add your mobile phone number here by clicking edit > Add Phone Number > External Number, and entering your mobile number. This will ring your mobile device whenever someone calls your MIT extension during the criteria you specify (e.g. during business hours).
Call Handling Ring Mode: Simultaneous will ring all of your devices and phone numbers at one; Sequential will ring one number after the other. Simultaneous is recommended, because it takes several seconds for the call to be transferred, and sometimes there is not enough time to answer it.
Max Wait Time: The length of time the caller will wait prior to being sent to voicemail or an operator. It is recommended to set this no greater than 25-30 seconds.
Note that this time is for each call handling segment; if you selected sequential ring mode, it will wait that many seconds before proceeding to the next number. If you have several numbers, the caller will wait a long length of time before being sent to voicemail.
Greeting & Leave Voicemail Instructions: It is recommended to use one of the standard templates below:
