Summer 26 Weekly Meeting

During this meeting, we discussed our main projects for the summer and gave updates on progress on individual projects, then finished with some announcements and task delegation. The overall goal for the summer is to continue our existing projects and ensure that the team keeps running as it did during the semester with those who are on campus and able to contribute.

  • Outreach --
    • The outreach team will be looking into contacting sponsors, building out the social media platforms (linkedin, etc.), and creating a website for the team. Liam is currently building the website, the preview for which is available now: https://satellite.mit.edu/preview/. He encourages people to visit and give feedback, and for people to test its limits in order to identify any bugs. The formatting for the mobile version is being troubleshooted. 
  • Onboarding --
    • The onboarding team is meeting weekly to discuss the onboarding project in the fall, which will be a high altitude balloon, launch TBD.
  • ETHER --
    • Subteams have not met yet, but will meet in the following week(end). In order to keep things coordinated, no tasks have been delegated yet. Once the subteams meet, everyone can begin working on the project for the summer.
    • Controls: Any existing tasks that need to be completed are pinned in the slack, and anyone can claim a task to work on at any time. 
    • CFD work is difficult because it requires an ANSYS ID, but those who want to contribute will be receiving an ANSYS ID soon.
  • LEONIRD --
    • The goal is to launch in 18 months, and in order to do so, we need to get FCC licensing and a third team to contribute a 1U to our 3 1U project. Eventually we will be able to start the licensing process, but until then there is not much work to be done on LEONIRD, unless anyone wants to help Ryan with the spectrometer. 
    • Pranav will be contacted to retrieve the drone footage of the HAB launch

Updates and announcements:

  • Angelina is putting together a CAD training for sometime in the future for those who would like to learn.
  • There may be an additional meeting time (Tuesdays 4-5) in the future for those who cannot attend the regular meeting time.
