Flow physics refers to the complex physical fluid phenomena and processes that are important in the accurate CFD simulation of product performance, reliability, and safety over a wide range of flight regimes in the operation of aerospace vehicles and propulsion systems. Examples of flow physics include:
- Turbulence and all forms of flow separation
- Flow transition
- Combustion (turbo-machinery, scramjet inlets, etc.)
- Finite-rate gas chemistry
- Ionization, non-equilibrium, and plasma flows (during reentry, etc.)
- Fuel spray mixing
- ...and many others
