October 11

I didn't realize until fairly recently that we were supposed to be keeping a running journal of what's been going on and the Mission work we've accomplished. Last week we presented the minigroup projects: closed area affects on fish/environment, closed area affects on humans, and other solutions other than closed areas. I feel like minigroups gave us a chance to learn from what other teams had researched and gave us a taste of what the final presentation would be like at a smaller scale. I think, however, that the topics for the groups themselves were a little too focused on closed areas; the third group's presentation on alternative solutions seemed much more like what our final presentation would turn out to be.

I think one issue that's going to come up is organization; there was a lot of debate in our minigroup about how to break down the topic and how to order the presentation. I think it'll take quite some time for all the groups to come together and come to an agreement on what the most effective way of organizing our solutions will be.

This week, amongst much psetting and exams, our team plans to share with each other what information we've found, i.e. summarize key points that we've posted already on the wiki.

to-do list:

  • finish reading and summarizing relevant journal articles/studies I've found but haven't had time to read in depth yet
  • go to Lindgren and look through books
  • look up more on organizations that are implementing international regulations
  • No labels
