The ITAG Technology Architecture and Planning team is chartered to:
- Create stakeholders responsible for defining technology standards, platforms, and roadmaps.
- Provide technical governance within IS&T ensuring adherence to the project review process as defined by ITAG in its Enterprise Architecture Guide.
- Ensure the engagement of all IS&T directorates prior to technology commitment.
The purpose of the Technology Architecture and Planning team (TAP) is to:
- act as a technology governance group for ITAG, as articulated in the ITAG charter.
- apply appropriate focus towards standardization and adherence to ITAG guidelines.
- hold detailed reviews of IS&T initiatives, initially encompassing their architecture/design, security, and plans for technical implementation.
- ensure that IS&T is working towards a convergence of similar platforms.
- leverage expertise and skills from the appropriate IS&T directorates and the DLCs.
In carrying out its mission, TAP will:
- create a collaborative forum to express, debate, and resolve issues and challenges, with a laser focus on decision-making and delivery.
- assign stakeholders to roadmaps and technologies. Stakeholders will be responsible for ensuring regular updates and socialization with ITAG and the MIT Community.
- balance the architectural and financial implications of technology directions and decisions.
- embody an approach to its work with doing fair analysis, making recommendations, bringing to ITAG and then moving on decisions. Decision should be driven by speed, cost or quality.
Artifacts of the consultation/review process will include:
- Vision and Scope document, that includes a one-page MVOD -- Mission, Vision, Objectives and Deliverables summary.
- Findings documents for specific reviews
- Requirement of other technical documentation to be delivered as part of the project.
- operational runbooks (part of the end product / service delivery)
- end-user documentation (where applicable)
- Roadmaps for key technologies
