Attachment 1: MASSIVE PDF on the Japanese Fishery and Fish Consumption (Master's Thesis)

I haven't made my way through all 75 pages, but there are some useful graphics and plenty of information on the Japanese fishery

Useful Facts

*40% of world fish production is currently traded globally. Thus, there now exists a clear disconnect between resource harvesters and resource consumers. (Abstract ii)
*Look at the graph on page 11 (i can't quite figure out how to copy it yet): it shows the production, consumption, import, export, and self-sufficiency of the Japanese fish market by year.

Attachment 2: JSTOR PDF on Modeling the Japanese Demand for Fish

Again, haven't read it all, but it should be fairly useful to get some general stats out of (since Japan is the world's largest consumer of fish, we should know just how large this demand is, where the fish comes from, and how that effects the rest fo the world).
