Please post feedback and problems about the Collaboratorium Plan Index page using the "Add Comment" button at the bottom of this page. If you'd like to comment on the system as a whole go here.

The plan index page lists all existing plans, and allows users to both examine and vote upon existing plans.

  1. When I was using the system just now, I wanted to be able to easily compare the plans on the basis of their ending CO2 concentrations.

I would have been nice to be able to do this in a table like the one shown on the left of this screen.

Someday, it would be nice to have more options in what columns would be displayed on the left (for instance, letting the users select which ones they want to see).

I agree with this comment in a very broad and general sense. I come to the Collaboratorium tired at the end of the day, and after a full day of dealing with energy, environment and business issues. I found myself not wanting to read a lot of instructions, and seeking ways to hook quickly into whatever meat there is in this site. I found it pretty easy to hook into the debate, but not very easy to hook into the modeling. So I am asking for some graphics or other entry points that make it easy for me to begin to participate at a very simple level, after which I can enter more complicated areas of the web site.

  2. Here are some thoughts about what to do when new plans are created from existing ones (not necessary to implement all these immediately, but maybe useful to think about them as possible parts of a development roadmap):

    (1) Indicate whether this is a "new version" or a "new plan"
    If a new version, then

    (a) include link to a "Plan History" page like the History page in Wikipedia and other wikis. This page should include:
(info) a list of previous plans in this "genealogy"
(ii) optional notes on key changes in each version or reasons for making the changes
(iii) capability of automatically generating differences between any pair of plans. Differences should probably only be calculated for: Description, Actions, Model, Impacts? (Not for Debate, Debate summary?)

    (b) Notify all users who voted for this plan. (If their profiles indicate they want to be notified)

    (c) Maybe notify all users who entered debate comments about this plan? (If their profiles so indicate)

    (2) If a new plan, then: Add link to previous plan, but don't do any of the other things just listed. The semantic difference is: New version is a new version of an existing plan. You expect most things to remain the same, but there will be some changes. New plan is a substantially different plan that, for convenience, starts with some of the attributes of an old plan, but that you do not expect to have the same supporters or arguments.

    (3) Note that we should probably be able to have forking of the plan version tree. Each history page shows only the ancestors of the current plan, but it would be nice to have another visualization page that shows more general family trees.

    (4) Also would be nice to have a "diff" capability to show the differences between any two plans, even if they're not in the same genealogy tree.

  3. - I get the MIT Certificate question when I want to access the Copenhagen link, is that OK?

    In "Create a Plan":

    - Developed countries (fossil fuels) emission change? (the "ff" is missing)

    - Can we explain that "When you run a simulation chosing a combination of the 5 variables, you will get the resulting CO2 concentration, Temperature change and  Fossil Fuel emissions for the next 100 years. You can then save your proposed plan for others to comment on or discard it". It is not terribly intuitive what a "Plan" is otherwise (and sounds really big)

    In "BAU":

    - I could modify one of your comments, and I guess I shouldn't
