Your College may send you general information during the summer before you go to Cambridge.
It may take a while (e.g. a few months) for them to contact you, but if you still have not heard
from your College by the beginning of September, you should let the CME office know. Don't
be too alarmed if you don't hear too much from them besides a friendly "hello," though; the
amount of information given to CME students varies vastly from college-to-college. You will
need to take care of your MIT finances (student account and financial aid) before you get on the
plane to England. (MIT closes your TechCash account after 120 days of inactivity!) Otherwise,
you will have problems with matriculation at your college before the year even starts! Also, you
will need a student visa to be allowed to study in the UK for a year. To get this visa, you will
have to submit a request in advance and pay a fee. For more information, talk to the CME office.
The CME website can be consulted for more information regarding general preparation: http://web.mit.edu/cmi/ue/mit-admitted-students.html.
Don't forget to plan for after Cambridge. If you think you might want to spend your summer
interning back in the US, you probably want to apply and interview in September, or speak to
Professors etc.
