The DarkLight experiment was conceived and proposed to search for evidence of a dark photon in electron-proton scattering. It is motivated by theoretical considerations, hints from astrophysical observation, and the ≈ 3σ discrepancy in the measured anomalous magnetic moment of the muon with respect to the Standard Model expectation. The experiment aims to search for a bump in the reconstructed e+e− invariant mass while detecting the complete final-state in the process ep → epe+e− at an incident energy of 30-50 MeV. Figure 1 shows the region in mass-coupling space probed by DarkLight. While this region has been searched extensively and the A′ has been excluded at 2σ, largely via decay of the π[6], DarkLight brings a completely new technique to bear to this search with significantly increased sensitivity.
