2006 Horizon Project Wiki

Welcome to the 2006 Horizon Project Wiki. This space was originally created as a place for the members of the Horizon Project Advisory Board to manage the process of selecting the foci for the 2006 Horizon Report, co-published by the New Media Consortium (NMC) and the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI).

All of the discussions, content, and comments that were part of the research and subsequent selection process are included here, and now we have opened the wiki up to the NMC membership and friends of the NMC to continue the discussions with a broader audience. The menus below will lead you to a variety of resources, news items, discussion areas, links, and more.

Your Thoughts and Comments are Welcome!
Please consider this our collective work area, and feel free to add comments, content, categories, new pages, and lots more resources. You can edit the content of this or any page using the Edit Page link on the right.

The items in these areas are meant to grow - please add to them liberally from your own readings and environmental scanning - and above all, leave comments!

Discussion Area - weigh in on these topics, or add new ones!

PROCESS: Within each of the discussion areas below, please add your perspectives and observations. We are particularly interested in comments about the topics in the current report, and your perspectives on which topics in the previous Horizon Reports may still be relevant, or which may have moved to a closer planning horizon. In addition, we'd like to gain insight into any that may have missed the mark.

Press Clippings - technology news and reports that informed our work

PROCESS: Advisory Board members reviewed the articles in this section, and ranked ordered the ones they thought were most important to our work in the first four areas. The other areas contain live links to up-to-the-minute tech news as well as links to the published lists of "technologies to watch" produced by several other organizations.

We'd like to know what you are reading! Please feel free to add new articles by including a short summary and a link to the end of the any of these lists! We encourage you to "sign" your posts by putting your name in italics at the end of your post, but it is not required.

The items in the categories below have been rank ordered. Please add new ones at the bottom of the page.

The categories below are not ranked, but it will help preserve the record if you add new ones to the bottom of these pages.

Sandbox — this is the space where the work of the 2006 Horizon Report took place. Virtually all aspects of the project are captured here.
