- questions we need to answer first:
- is this part of drupal as a service? NO
- we need a dedicated host, not shared infrastructure
- Rich might host in cloud, but stand alone installation
- what is Rich's resource commitment?
- need to figure out funding
- could we get bumped by DCAD in terms of priority? NO, in the queue with everyone else
- what is Rich's timeline?
- 3 months (est)
- his resources are fully engaged right now
- would need to bring in a contractor
- funding for drupal resource (3 months@40hrs/week $110/hour)
- catalog building a drupal database for their data
- 2 systems with a bridge as opposed to same system?
- we can pull catalog into dev system and work from there
- or same system with different views?
- How long would resources be available for us as we learn things and as things change?
- his team doesn't have that flexibility
- what is the Service Catalog's timeline in terms of needing the data?
- is Rich open to this being malleable? YES in dev
- data model may change
- business requirements may change
- how flexible is this? thats why we will play in dev to define
- can this be agile? according to Rich, drupal will not allow
- design from inside out
- catalog has defined their content types - share with Portfolio
- provide Rich requirements, data model and business rules about what data is to be held in the system if we move forward with his team
- next steps:
- Rich has given us a drupal instance on their dev server for now (portfolio-dev@mit.edu) 18.9.60.10, so we could consider doing the following:
- flush out information architecture
- wire frame content types (fields on the page)
- develop content types
- relationships between content types
- Dave finalizing fields by next week
- talk with Garry about options if we go out on our own
- Pat get funding set up production environment- table for implementation project
- get production environment up (portfolio@mit.edu)
- talk as team about what direction to go in (Web Services vs on our own)
- need ability to do rapid prototyping
- Pat schedule working sessions starting in two weeks with Alison and Rich if we want to go with Web Services
