  • The pdfs can be OCRed but they will have to be taken apart and changed to tiff files then OCRed which will increase the cost.

            Updated - Document Services is purchasing software so that they can OCR from pdf and the cost will be .02 per page

  • Found 222 reports already in DSpace under the following search in DSpace: MIT-LCS-TR
    • (Sean commment) Note: The real number is more likely 108 already in DSpace. The 222 reported above is for a global search of DSpace and contains results where the MIT-LCS-TR string could be anywhere in the record or the full text, not just for ones that are true LCS reports
    • (Sean comment) It appears that the true LCS reports contain dc.identifier.other fields where both a MIT-LCS-TR AND an MIT-CSAIL-TR number appear in the record. The 108 total count above was determined by doing an Advanced Search for "MIT-LCS-TR NOT MIT-CSAIL-TR". That search retrieves 114 that should not be true LCS reports (for example, they are theses that reference an MIT-LCS-TR report). 222-114=108 actual LCS reports.
