Physics Reading Room
Un-cataloged material arrives from the Physics Reading Room in boxes, which Jane receives and unloads. Jane processes any items that qualify for Fastcat, or any that may be added directly to an ALEPH record; the remaining she gives to Gordon, who distributes them evenly among copy catalogers. All material comes property-stamped; any CDROMs accompanying books are not removed from their original plastic sleeving. Since this materials is not barcoded, catalogers are expected to insert into all material a slip with a barcode attached; this is to facilitate automated label printing in Preservation Services.
