Announcements and Updates:

  • MS reported that CFG is evaluating the Survey in the awareness and importance categories. MS suggested that RISG contact other Public Service
  • Groups to determine if and how they are looking at the Survey data before RISG begins its own evaluation.
  • PC reported the highlights of the last PSLG meeting. He suggested that Lisa Horowitz attend our next meeting to report on the recently publicized Assessment Plan. AL suggested that Lisa might also be able to report on how other Groups are analyzing the Survey.
  • AL reported that she has been asked to determine when RISG is planning to lead a discussion for library staff on changes to the curriculum. AL suggested that we need to determine if RISG is the appropriate group and to wait until after the faculty votes in November before any library-wide discussion takes place.
  • AL announced that she, Darcy, and Nicole are working together to create tutorials using products like Camtasia and Captivate. Demos and/or training for staff will take place in the future. AL provided a link to an example of video for class instruction: http://libraries.mit.edu/guides/courses/fall2006/2.75/
  • GM met with Darcy last week and will begin to test Captivate, (using a trial download) in preparation for ISP staff training or instruction for
    Humanities classes.
