Discussed Microsoft Exchange Admin Console:
Screenshots have been posted on the Wiki which shows the current settings for Mobile Devices connecting to MS Exchange. (Except BlackBerry & iPhone) Discussed the current default values, e.g. yes/no on enforcing pin code, preloading settings for calendar and email, etc. As said above, iPhone and BlackBerry are not remotely administered via this panel.
Discussed Exchange Rollout Procedures:
We reviewed the very "rough" drafts of procedures for users and group migrating to MS Exchange/Calendar from Oracle and Cyrus/IMAP. The steps could very well change, but gave an idea of the steps needs by the end users and operations. Similar procedures will need to be discussed for the mobile device after the email/calendar sides has been solidified.
Discussed BlackBerry Enterprise Server, fee based service:
We spoke about current pricing structures in place at other higher ed institutions regarding the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and service. Most colleges/universities are charging for this service, and would be in the best interest to do the same to help lower the overhead of the service. More specifics needs to be worked out before actual prices can be decided, but this is diffidently something to think about going forward.
Testing is needs, please start testing ALL aspects of calendar, email, contacts, notes, and tasks. (iPhone is exception for notes/memo). Please post results within the wiki.
