6/17/08 NEO Meeting
Attendees
E19: Ken Paul, Jean Samuelson, Laurie Bryce, Jackie Cancell, Chuck Munger, Tom Pixton, Janet Walzer
            Phone-in: Kath Thurston-Lighty, Robert Thurston-Lighty, Bob Wilt

  • Writing/Content
    • Kath reports that she's ahead of schedule on the web-content writing, and should be finished by the end of the week. (One exception: the Diversity page requires more consultation.)This will give her more time to focus on the multimedia scripts.
    • There are links directing users to the  Employee Self Service site.
      • Issue: people may not be able to access the site due to missing MIT Certificates.
      • Ken suggested that any link to the ESS site be accompanied by the caveat that "MIT Certificates are required". Perhaps whatever standard phrasing we choose could also link to the NEO or IS&T page re: MIT Certificates.
  • Multimedia Development
    • Chuck is handling communications with the audition volunteers; we have 10 volunteers as of 6/18
    • Ken will provide Kath's first multimedia intro draft to Chuck to share with the volunteers ahead of the audition
    • Kath will provide a different draft by Monday for volunteers to read at the audition.
    • Kath summarized comments to date on the first multimedia draft
      • Concerns included shelf life of scripts with local references, use of colloquialisms, use of full name vs. first name, referencing career backgrounds, real vs. made up name, potential increase in utility by not making the dialogue super-specific to new employees
  • IS&T Update
    • Ranjani reports (through Ken) that IS&T will have a first draft of their improved MIT Certificate Acquisition site by 7/1 for our review
    • Ranjani did pass along a summary of the Usability studies, a full report will come later.
  •  Design
    • Design Review 2 comments have been consolidated here:  NEO Design - Design Review 2, Comment Summary
    • Detailed change requests will be posted on the Design pages.
    • Summary of recommendations include:
      • Thin HR Banner treatment highly preferred, with no radio button
      • For the top page, display only the Dome graphic (exclude any people pictures)
      • Ensure that the page displays in a 1024x768 window
      • Contrast needs to be improved for highlight/selected menu choices and "See the Sites" background
      • Benefits Multimedia link graphics needs to be simplified
      • Contact Us needs a different treatment
      • MIT branding should be increased
  • No labels
